2012 AKC Rally® Information
IMPORTANT AKC RALLY INFORMATION
Recently the AKC Board of Directors, working with AKC team members and representatives from the Rally Sport Fancy, passed a number of regulation changes and new exercises for AKC Rally. These changes are effective April 1, 2012.
In an effort to assist judges and members of the fancy to learn and to educate all about these changes, the Companion Events Department has prepared several documents prior to the regulation implementation date to assist in the transition of the sport.
All AKC Rally Judges should become familiar with these changes and regulations prior to the implementation date of April 1, 2012.

Effective June 27, 2011 The AKC Therapy Dog title, or “THD,” will launch June 27th as an official AKC suffix title and will reward dogs and their owners that have provided ongoing community service to help improve the well being of others. The title will be open to all AKC dogs that have completed a series of criteria. To qualify, dogs must be certified by a participating therapy dog certification organization and have performed a minimum of 50 community service visits.

Effective February 24, 2011 The American Kennel Club announced the launch of a new titling event – the Coursing Ability Test – on February 24, 2011 in Calhoun, GA. Open to all dogs, the Coursing Ability Test is an introductory event fashioned after the sport of lure coursing and meant to be a fun, healthy activity for dogs and their owners. Coursing Ability Tests may be held by all licensed lure coursing clubs. For more information about the Coursing Ability Test, visit www.akc.org/events/coursing_ability_test/
Effective January 1, 2011 New regulations will be implemented that will allow the following titles to be awarded when a dog has received three qualifying scores under two different judges, instead of the current requirement of three judges:
- Companion Dog (CD)
- Companion Dog Excellent (CDX)
- Utility Dog (UD)
- Graduate Novice (GN)
- Graduate Open (GO)
- Versatility (VER)
ALSO - Pekingese, Pembroke Welsh Corgis, Sealyham Terriers and West Highland White Terriers will be added to the list of breeds that jump three-quarter jump height.
